PROVES-Maia

A CubeSat being developed by Texas State as part of the multi-university Pleiades Five Program, with launch services provided by NASA’s CubeSat Launch Initiative.

Five PROVES Kit CubeSats from Cal Poly Pomona's Pleiades Yearling fleet, lined up on a white surface for inspection.
The Pleiades Yearling fleet (PROVES Kits SN4, SN6, SN7, SN9, SN10), built by Cal Poly Pomona using the same satellite framework as the Pleiades Five missions.

The Pleiades Five collaboration

The Pleiades Five Program is a collaboration between Cal Poly Pomona, Columbia University, Northeastern University, UC Santa Cruz, and Texas State University. Each participating institution is developing its own satellite as part of a coordinated cluster.

Cal Poly Pomona leads the program and designed the satellite bus we’re using. Their goal is to make a CubeSat kit that institutions without prior satellite experience can assemble and outfit with their own scientific payload — lowering the barrier to entry for university spaceflight.

Texas State’s role

Our team is responsible for assembling the Cal Poly Pomona satellite bus and integrating a scientific payload of our choosing. NASA is providing the launch through the CubeSat Launch Initiative.
